Thin matcha — the everyday whisked bowl.

Also known as: thin tea

Usucha ("thin tea") is the standard matcha preparation — about 2 grams of matcha whisked with 60–70 ml of off-boil water (70–80 °C) into a smooth, foamy bowl. It's lighter, frothier, and more accessible than its thicker cousin koicha. When someone says "a bowl of matcha," they usually mean usucha. Both ceremonial and premium-grade matcha work for usucha; culinary grade does not.
