Is matcha just stronger green tea?
More than that. Both come from Camellia sinensis, but matcha leaves are shaded for weeks before harvest (which boosts caffeine, L-theanine, and chlorophyll), and they're ground into a powder you drink whole. Steeped green tea pulls out only the water-soluble fraction; matcha gives you the entire leaf.
Is matcha healthier than green tea?
Per gram of dry tea, matcha contains far more EGCG, L-theanine, and antioxidants. Per cup, the gap narrows because you use less matcha than tea leaves, but matcha still wins on most metrics. Green tea is more affordable for daily volume, which matters too.
